generally fine but very sore, its only really my back and some bruised ribs but I cant do simple things you never think about doing like sniff or cough without being in intense pain. today some one bumped into me on the train and I nearly vomited because it hurt so much. still struggling to raise my arms and lift stuff too.

gonna hopefully get some pics of the car tomorrow, i'm a bit worried it might be in a worse state than i remember.

this week's lesson is if your steering feels strangely light, don't wonder what it is, just brace for impact cos its ice and its going to all go wrong very soon.

    • It (still) worries me a little as unless you do some kind of advanced driving course things like knowing what to do on ice etc is always going to be pretty much trial and error so to speak, it's like when they say when you skid on snow turn into the skid or whatever, i always think if in that situation i'd fail to remember and crash. Once when i'd been driving a couple of years i went around a corner a little too fast in snow and ended up on the wrong side of the road facing the wrong way, easy done when you don't experience wintry weather very often.

Its sucks doesn't it mate. I know how you feel after we had that nasty in June. Hopefully you'll get better as soon as possible!

    • Fortunately I'm never really forced to drive anywhere these days. I didin't use my car in Feb this year when the bad weather hit and just left it on the road until the ice went.
Anyway, hope you're OK Podge and the damage isn't too bad.

    • G, the first words Podge posted on this topic were "I just wrote my car off". I would infer from that the damage was fairly bad.
He's ok, he just complains like an old man whenever he has to move. No change from normal, ZING!.

    • i got some photos of the car, just need to work out how to get them off Caroline's phone and onto my computer.

the guy who recovered my car was surprised I wasn't in hospital. I'm feeling a bit like Captain Scarlett. also glad that i didn't have any one in the front passenger seat as there isnt a foot well any more, you could see the front wheel from inside the car... oops

    • I bet all those people who told Podge that buying a motorbike was a stupid and dangerous idea are feeling a bit silly now.

    • Then your statement contained a redundancy, communatard.

    • My car used to make lots of dodgy overheating type noises, but since I accidentally put windscreener washer in the radiator it's been fine, haha!

    • excellent!

    • are Peugeot 106s any good?

1.5D that's going cheap and as i do a hell of a lot of miles i thought a diesel might work out cheaper
    • GarethGareth
    • You tend to pay more road tax on older diesels but the fuel saving might offeset that. I never did enough miles in mine to make it worthwhile, and it was really underpowered when the car was full of gear and hairy men so it went through fuel pretty quickly.
    • PodgePodge
    • well in a 1.4 petrol it was costing me about £40 a week for 400 miles (lots of traffic jams). i just figured a diesel might work out but don't really know. most of the time there is just me in the car so power isn't really too much of an issue though its nice to have something with a bit of umph in it
    • EggyEggy
    • Peugeots are pretty reliable, and 309 diesels tend(ed) to run virtually forever so i'd think a 106 would be a decent but too. Plus with the size of the car and it being a 1.5 litres i'd think mpg would be worth it.

...see here for owners opinions: www.parkers.co.uk/cars/owners-reviews/search.aspx?range=429#B...

and parkers review of the 106 model: www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/peugeot/106-1991.aspx

Re diesel or petrol, i couldn't decide which to get when i changed mine the last time, diesels GP's are more common than the T-Jet but given the type of journeys i do people recommended the petrol model - they said unless you do a lot of mileage then your better of sticking to the petrol.
