/incoming/piraelbi.jpgNot only have Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube Records teamed up to release the Spiral Galaxy record, but there’s another too, from Pirámides, out on the same day. And naturally that dual stamp of quality makes for a fine record.

We’re in Monterrey and in chilled airs of light-headed psychedelia. It is music of simple beats, shuffling percussion and breezy natures, of delicate vocals and fluttering sounds. It feels as if a lithe cat is stretching above the instrumentation, in and through the minimal layers of noises that meander within and through.

As the album progresses it turns increasingly towards Krautrock mannerisms, through synth noise playfulness and repeating guitar patterns. Sawa Yukawi expresses itself with kosmiche rhythms and world music expanse, a song to kick back to in the rising run. There are turns, such as on Al Caer La Noche, to drone-folk – minimalist yet electrifying.

Its final two or three tracks become incrementally more hypnotic, ending with the distant droning atmosphere of Para Llegar A Ti, where faint waves of saxophone and guitar barely reach the surface, before it turns whispery and ghostly by its end. It is an album to relax to, to meditate with, progressively leading you into a blissful trance.
