    • I see. This would also explain why no London transport workers bothered at all this morning.
    • PodgePodge
    • yes, the london / hillsborough run is a long one and not too frequent hence only the lucky few get to drive it. so everyone else stayed at home.

    • it's a very gay amount of snow even at 6 inches.
was talking to a friend of mine who has been living in Chicago since June , he just passed his driving test in a foot of snow and the public transport has carried on regardless.
He pissed himself laughing when I said London shut down in 6 inches of snow.
6 inches is their compact layer of snow from now until March.

    • Exactly. I know I lived somewhere fairly rural as a kid, but I'm damn sure 6 inches of snow made not a jot of difference to anyone's life, and it happened much more regularly. Half the problem now is that people refuse to walk.
    • noonenoone
    • correct.
I just walked 45 minutes to work only to be sent home after an hour and a half due to ' extreme weather conditions ' .
They offered me a taxi home with the rest of the staff who live closer than me. I politely declined and got a stroll on.
I grew up in North Wales, 6 inches of snow is not even worth getting the sledge out for.

yup went to chicago in december, constant snow and the traffic just keeps flowing, they do have some big cars mind. They also have plenty snow plows everywhere. The local crew on the tour i went to drop gear off for looked pretty nails, laugh at the cold

    • I thnk it's because we don't grit anything other than the main roads or plow any at all. I saw a few cars skidding down my road and a van turn onto it and have the back end spin out as it's been left despite being off a major road in my end of town.

Were you aware that the 'other' Gorse did a version of this called 'I'm a farmer', very funny, inspiring even.

    • I fucking hate that song.

Looking out my window this morning I have no snow again.
It pissed it down last night and washed it all away :D

    • I had a very pleasant walk in the snow this morning. I saw Mr Goose and I doffed my cap to him.

    • still loas on the ground but the clouds have gone and suns shining, so i guessing it will melt over the day

    • I think the word regarding Chicago is CONSTANT. We get it once every few years for a few days and people just aren't used to it.

Got into work today. Took a few hours but no big deal. Shame is that it took two hours on public transport. Only takes 3 hours to walk it.

    • Had fun in the thick snow, unburied my car this morning to drive girlfriend to work (still no trains), quite an easy drive all round. I don't think I've seen snow this heavy in my 24 years, but we're not in Canada so it's not worth spending money on being more prepared for weather that never happens.

    • i have skipped work today, the lad giving me a lift cant get off his road, there are no buses running to work, and some time between 8 and 11.30 some one some how has managed to tip my bike over in the street, had to get the neighbour to help me put it back up again

    • Didn't go in yesterday because trains to London and tubes were fucked. A few of my friends made the trip to London, only to realise that they couldn't get from Waterloo to the other side of London, so had to come home.

Came in today fine. Although I imagine it's going to be horribly crowded on the train home tonight when the whole of fucking Surbiton tries to get on. Cunts. Die.

    • I got in fine today, so did most of the other teachers, but very few kids seemed able to walk the short distance from their houses.

However, the police came at lunchtime to shut us down as we were causing a traffic hazard. Amusing. So I am home. :)
