Anyone having weekends lately?

    • alanalan
    • I know there's a credit crunch on and whatever, but there's not been a new weekend thread for yonks!

Not that I have any plans mind. Bit of shopping and random perusing in town may be in order tomorrow. And maybe get dragged out tomorrow night. Hopefully.

At the expense of any kind of life or luxury. Literally.

oh no, i'm so hard done by...
here's an idea, why don't you get a proper job, you know, one where you have to work, not just turn up, and maybe a full time one too, not just a apart time one. or why don't you stop working, don't claim the dole and then you'll have nothing to live on for a month and that will make you a double hard bastard instead of a moaning one.
    • mikemike
    • Woah Podge, not sure if you know all the facts on that one.
    • PodgePodge
    • whoa mike, not sure i care.
i make no apology for being successful.
    • mikemike
    • Haha!

I'm staying out of this one, fireworks on the way, whizz bang!
    • PodgePodge
    • i like Katharine wheels, there is an added inherent danger with them not being 200 foot up in the air
    • mikemike
    • Edgey, I hate fireworks having grown up next to a field where they test them for 2 months before the actual display which isnt as fun.

I might go out tonight, would save me typing crap.
    • JenTheHenJenTheHen
    • I'm quite self-confident in my life, in general. I've worked hard and continue to work hard on a daily basis and, consequently, Podge's ill-informed comments do not shake my resolve.

The fact that I have chosen a tough career path where I am not constantly in full time work and am not constantly reassured by a wage have made me frugal and strong. I am happy with all my choices and would never seriously complain about my lack of money, despite it getting me down sometimes.

I am constantly thankful and incredibly lucky to have, on the whole, some really fantastic friends and family who have helped me and allowed me to make such choices and not judged me in my current employment choices because they can see the bigger picture and know that I am a patient and determined person with a long-term career goal.

However Podge chooses to see my life is entirely up to him.
    • PodgePodge
    • you lived next to a firework testing field, that would send me loopy.

so Jen, it wasn't you who told me you liked it when you got a shift at Graves park (i think) gallery because you could sit and read your book all day with minimal interruption? my memory must be failing me in my old age, cos i'm pretty sure i don't know anyone else who works or has worked for any art gallery style thing.

maybe i should get a part time job at your place, i'd easily earn £20 a night the amount of reading i do before i go to bed. do they pay by the page or by the book?

i'm glad you have a lot of friends, i sold all mine for 50 pence pieces when i was a kid, 50p was a lot of money in the 80's

you moan at every opportunity that you are skint but its by your own choice. some people have poverty forced on them. Christ, can you imagine how bad that its? to be as poor as you but not enjoy it...

      put up or shut up,

i'm off to eat boiled Fabergé eggs and soldiers, real solders, not strips of bread, i get them flown in from Africa, their training is pretty hard so it makes them more meaty than UK ones
    • mikemike
    • Those eggs are ornamental, you'll need new teeth if you bite them.
