Much like fellow UK doom underground mob Amon Acid recently, Bristol’s gnarliest Gnasch have felt fit to put out into the world off-cuts and extra-curricular recordings made during studio sessions for their more standard delivery albums – in this case from their The Legend of Johnny Gnasch record of last year.

Similarly, and not too surprisingly, there’s a leftfield adventure contained within, not merely lesser songs cut from the final listing, but an opportunity to explore other ventures and avenues. Two of the three tracks here are in a world of their own, of minimalism, noise and samples – the first as if from a haunted house as odd pulsations join creeping zombified voices in a strange shuffle, a found horror cassette that descends into madness as it turns to harsh electronics. The second feels like snivelling creatures are crying out for help, a drumbeat a lone semblance of sanity although totally losing the battle.

The third track, Delirium, brings with it a sense of normality – but only relative to before and actually a reminder that when it comes to Gnasch there is no real 'normal' anytime. It is wiry and unhinged, again with a minimal vibe but enough there to craft something of a droning doom atmosphere for the vocals to rut up against and spew forth their black vibes.

A stop-gap or curio this may only be, but it’s good to keep Gnasch in your mind, a band to be wary of for ill intentions, but primarily for applaudable adventures into the weird.
