    • I just heard the first 4 tracks while coming back from Ratz Ass jam. On the plus side it does sound like the kind of music that would be playing if a shrine was being built. That's all I can think of.

    • I listened to about 3 minutes of a track and got a little bit bored.

    • hmm i quite enjoyed it, its nothing groundbreaking but its a decent listen. I think your rating it purely on the people involved, if you listened to it without knowing the band it still stands up as pretty good music. Maybe not amazing but its a pretty big wall of sound.
I'm not one of those complete Wino ass kissers but it would be wrong to say that St.Vitus, The Obsessed and Spirit Caravan all sound the same? Just sayin'

    • I listened to it once a couple of weeks ago. I don't really remember it.

    • I'm not massivley keen on any of the bands the people come from and there's lots of associated bands I've not heard but when something gets hyped so much you expect a lot. I'll have to see if it's on Spotify as I think I'm getting too lazy to even download stuff now!

First point: yes, I have been harsher because of those involved, but then they have hyped the shit out of the project based on that self same fact.
Secondly: big wall of sound? I didn't really get into this in the review, but the production is shockingly weak. What moderately sized riffs there are get totally nerfed.
Lastly: Wino. Fair dos, I was really meaning the post Vitus / Obsessed he's done. Never got the big deal about any of it.

    • Got to agree mostly with the reviewer here, WELL over-hyped, and a little bit disappointing.
Here's the Wino bit, here's the Cisneros bit.... that's what i took from the preview track on their Myspace. And yes, the WIno "section" did sound pretty close to most of Wino's other ventures. I'll look forward to listening through the whole record though. HYPEBUILDER.

    • I quite like it. Have to agree it is a bit patchwork quilt.

      Fucking love the drumming though.

    • Heard a non legit 'Pyramid of the Moon' - it all seems very predictable and safe, nice but not rocking my boat much

    • Vitus don't really sound like Spirit Caravan or The Hidden Hand at all in my opinion...

I refer you to my previous post.

Still a BIT disappointing, but there's definitely some moments of sheer glory. The end sections of pyramid of the moon make up for some of the less exciting points, and Wino's guitar sounds on point throughout. I'm gonna go see them next week when im in New Yoik (they just happened to be playng one of the few nights i'm there-bonus!) so i'll mebbes post a wee review 'pon my return.

    • Man, you all are nuts. Live they were the best show I've seen in 2009 and a very solid album (with cheesy cover art). I enjoy every song on this album and it will likely be in my top 10 for the year.

    • Been lent a copy of this and had a listen last night...it's solid enough but a bit yawnsome. Doesn't really seem to go anywhere or vary the pace. Shame as I love Wino and Dale Crover is one of my favourite drummers. Neurosis bore the shit out of me though anyway!!!
