      Good film.

      Fish Tank also good.

is that the second in the trilogy? i like things with big sweeping shots of monolithic housing estates at the moment. import/export had quite a lot of that. fucking cool film.

Trilogy? Nah, it's just by Andrea Arnold, the same director. She is mint.

I watched Dune today, really hard to follow but really enjoyed it, why don't people make utterly mad films like this any more?

Sorry, but that film's a piece of shit. Read the book and you'll see what I mean. I'm not normally one of the "Oh, the book is so much better" camp, as often it's just the case that the book and the film are very different. In this case, though, the film really is awful.

I seem to remember enjoying the film, although it was years ago and I've not read the book.

Today I bought - Big Train - series 1 and 2 and rec

ahhh...right. red road is the first of a trilogy apparently. i'm lapping up gritty social realism at the moment.

i have also recently watched semi pro and some porn.

ahhhh...you see it's not a trilogy in terms of story, rather technique. natural light, handheld camera. lars von trier's advance party concept by all accounts. v high brow.

Yeah, I suppose a trilogy can be linked by theme/aesthetics as well as narrative content.

Hmmmm perhaps I'll have a little read up on Ms Arnold.

Anyway, both good films. As is her Oscar-winning short Wasp.

    • True Blood last night got cut off right at the end. Just before something awesome happened, I know it.

Channel 4 played some suspect music and then cut back for the credits.

I think it's a conspiracy to increase traffic on the 4ODwebsite.

You seen Gomorrah? That's pretty gritty, and very bleak. No real narrative but I liked it nonetheless.
