    • Me and the lady wench are going for 4 nights next weekend, staying in Windermere. Any recommendations as to stuff to do/places to eat drink around abouts?

So far I'm fucking psyched about going to the Beatrix Potter Museum!!!

    • Climb some mountains. They're great. Lovely views.

    • Nowhere in particular to recommend but pretty much every pub is lovely. I did go to a particularly nice one a few miles outside Windermere but couldn't tell you what it was called.

    • Yeah the Beatrix Potter museum is pretty great, the kids loved it..... and so did I. Boat trip on Windermere was good too.
There's a great Thai (name escapes me) which is on the first floor above another restaurant. Loads of top pubs. Traffic getting to and from the Lakes from the M6 was a bit of a nightmare; allow plenty of time.

I heard Beatrix Potter actually hated kids and liked to be spit roasted by enormously well hung black guys!!! Picture that next time you read one of her books.

I won't read another of her books but I am happy to picture that. Especially as she looks just like Bridget Jones in the imagining.

The Cumberland Pencil Musuem - less interesting than Stockport Hat Musuem fo sho.
Trips to Ambleside, Keswick and Hatherthwaite - B E A Utiful.
      Riding a REAL STEAM TRAIN!
      Meeting the REAL PETER RABBIT!
      Scones.
      Listening to narked off Northerners.
Listening to narked off Japanese tourists.
      Eating FAT breakfasts.

      Tasty all round.

my dad was once hit in the face with a barometer during a fight. He has a trace amount of mercury and a shard of glass still trapped under his lower lip which is one of the reasons he wears a beard. true story.

    • I'm just back from the Lake District. I saw FOUR octopuses at Maryport Aquarium. I think that beats the pencil museum, although I did consider going there.

Are there many ocopuses (octopi?) in the pencil museum?
