I've just checked the plants in my garden, and my cauliflowers have finally started to sprout. Exciting times.

I've also got loads of broad beans growing strong - anyone got any good (veggie) recipes to use them in?

And I've got a herb garden - thyme, rosemary, bay leaves, chives, lemon thyme, mint - which I all use, but I've also got bush loads of sage which I have no idea what to do with - any suggestions?

    • Now we're talking.

Cumcumbers have got massive, picking decent sized ones off regularly.

      Chillies are going great guns.

Sweetcorn have beards on them and are standing about 5ft tall now.

      Toms have fruit on them.

Courgettes do the same as every year, get massive but produce nothing!

      Potatoes have just finished flowering.

Peas were great but have died off, gonna pull them up and replace with kale for the winter

      Garlic is looking strong.

Carrots and parsnips look okay now the cat has stopped digging them up

Planted white bolt hardy beetroot this year, never have success with beetroot, but these are massive already!

      Celery looks okay

Broad beans look alright, don't pay much attention coz I don't really like them.

Can't grow radish for shit. Bolt straight away, same as our salad.

Herb patch is doing well, apart from the mustard that bolted, but now we're getting mustard seeds from it.

Sorry, got a bit excited there. That is all.

    • Awesome thread.

My first year of gardening has yielded little as I didn't plant much, although i have shitloads of cherry tomatoes coming out now, awesome garlic from before Christmas, quite a few potatoes and spinach and beetroot going ok.

My pride and joy are my two enormous pumpkin vines which have spread over most of the veg patch and looking pretty promising. Pumpkin pie and soup ahoy!

My garden was a dump when we moved in, so I'm getting there. Next year i'll be really organised with raised beds and everything.

    • is anybody using their gardens for cool stuff like drugs?
    • MazzMazz
    • I counted four cats in our garden yesterday. They were all were ignoring each other. I think they were looking for the drugs.

I just assumed you'd found a funny picture of Dave Navarro gardening.

I love growing my own veg, but part of me really wants to punch Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall in the face.
