acoustic guitars

    • Anybody know much about them... like the more fancy stuff like the martins, guilds, gibsons? I'm on the look out for a new guitar something that's a bit special... I need something I can either put a good pick up in or something with a a good pick in it.

    • I used to make shoe box guitars all the time. I think that might be my project for the day.

      It will.

Tokai do a great Martin copy I played in Electro, though after about 45 minutes and 20 or so guitars, my favourite one was a mere £300.

    • I've played Martins before and they do indeed have an extremely rich sound compared to £200 guitars... that said I own a few £200 guitars that I'm really happy with, a Tanglewood 12 string and a Washburn 6, both really nice to play and sound decent.

If I was going to drop that sort of brass on an acoustic though, I'd go for a high-end Takamine, for sure.

I couldn't hear enough difference to warrant any more than an extra couple of hundred pounds, certainly not the £800 - £3,300 more than they were asking. The all mahogany one was very nice but the top of the range was just flowery inlays and rubbish. It didn't even play that nice.

    • Ah yeah a few folks have mentioned them I may look into them I think. Yeah love the sound of a martin I must say... also quite into getting a nice vintage guitar... how poncey am I ah!
