     KAYO DOT is an avant-and/or-compositional-rock band hailing from New York City. Led by composer Toby Driver, Kayo Dot began as the band MAUDLIN OF THE WELL in the 1990s and later changed their name. Their hallucinatory music has its roots in doom-goth, progressive rock, and new age, and has combined these influences with their experiences in the modern classical and avant-jazz worlds of downtown New York to create a completely unique, complex, heartbreaking, and meticulously composed genreless sound all their own.
     
     They are going to finally make it to Leeds in February, after last years complications, when two of the members were denied entry to the UK and they played as Tartar Lamb instead...
     
     Apparently, they plan to play some older more guitar-orientated material... they've also got two special supports with them... I cant wait smile

     After filling in for Kayo Dot last year, this tour, the band will premiere their magnum opus Tartar Lamb II - Polyimage Of Known Exits - described in their own words as "the sound of a whale swallowing a comet, spouting a cloud of ice from its blowhole, and the shards raining down and slicing up your face".

     With a foot deeply rooted in the avant-garde tradition of downtown New York and an interest in exploring new methods for clarinet performance, Cymerman has developed a highly personal language of extended clarinet techniques which are often augmented by a customized analog electronics set-up.
