Best Gloom and Doom albums of 2009?

• BeermanBeerman
• The Best Gloom and Doom of 2009 Poll is now Closed.

The rules are the same as previous years:

1. Vote for as many bands as you feel deserve the accolade Best Gloom or Doom of 2009.
2. Try to remember who you voted for so that you don't keep voting for the same album.
3. If you think it is Doom (or Gloom) then it is.
4. Keep the standard high, if you'd personally give them them 10/10 or 9/10 or even 8/10 then fine, but avoid anything lower than 8/10 even if you think that's the best 2009 has to offer.
5. Try not to waste your energies arguing if something is Doom, Gloom or not. I couldn't give a one-armed retarded monkey of Troo Doom...

The aim

The aim is to compile a list of great albums for the year so that we've all got a list of quality music to track down and check out for ourselves.

Notes:

- I've started the poll later this year as many complained last year that they couldn't understand the concept of identifying 8/10+ albums as they were released.

- The winner doesn't necessarily have the best album, just the most popular one amongst Doomsters, Gloomsters and Stoomsters, which isn't a bad crowd to receive an acolade from.

- If I can muster the enthusiasm votes may be harvested from Terrorizer, Ninehertz, My Dying Bride, and Doom-Metal.com, Hellridemusic and any other board I consider to be up to the underground standards of Gloom and Doom, but fan-boy idol worship will be ignored. If anyone has any suggestions of new boards to look at post away.

- If you don't feel this is a worthwhile exercise then fine, but don't feel you have to repeatedly share that with me as some have done in previous years.

- If you go to the '2009 Albums to Check Out' thread sticky at the top of the G&D board, link here... www.borninblood.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=6844 you'll not only see the sub-genres of many of the recommended bands but also a short review as well.

Let the voting begin (waits for the sound of silence)....

• i might be wrong if any of these came out this year but i would certainly recommend:

BLOODY PANDA - summon
TEITENBLOOD - seven chalices
EAGLE TWIN - the unkindness of crows
PELICAN - what we all come to need
SNOWBLOOD - s/t
YOB - the great cessation

sure they'll be more. i've been following more black metal, crust and grind this year...
