Threat Circuit Dump

/incoming/thredump.jpgThis is a brief but fearsome explosion of noise from Sydney, a mere four tracks across sixteen minutes that barrage by in a blur. Pulled in by their self-description of “swamp noise”, it may not turn out to be what I was then expecting, but I’m more than satisfied regardless.

Placental Abruption is our introduction and does more than enough to convince you to stay for the duration of the EP. A combined mess of noise-rock, sludge and hardcore, it congeals into something that carries true menace and brings a real thrill too. The delightfully titled Pool of My Own Piss has a screeching lead into a lovely sludge riff, then into wild guitars before nestling back into the sludge goodness.

Intrigue is piqued on The Eyes Have It, as it brings in variance, its squawking guitars taking us ito noise-rock approaching death metal – in mindset at least – and wonderfully chaotic with it. It’s almost approaching grind latter on as it becomes more frenetic, topping the whole thing off with one final change with a big, slow riff.

Who Are the Pigs? brings it to a close with yet another slant on their sound, a blistering hardcore and sludge battle, a little like Knoll and their kin, choking on its chugging splurges and manic switch up, stop start guitars. You feel battered and bruised, Threat Circuit getting one final blow in before the bell rings. It is a great closure to a very good release, full of range and blistering rage.
