/incoming/noshremi.jpgFurious HM-2 fuelled hardcore from Germany, No Shelter. (the full stop is part of the name) lean into rather than shy away from the obvious comparisons a single pedal inevitably brings and it by and large doesn’t suffer for it either.

Of course this is not just in the origin of the sound – i.e. Entombed – but in the more hardcore or even sludge leaning bands who followed the Swedes path. You hear it straight after the intro track, mania of the Black Breath school, a spiteful yet glorious rampaging noise. They vary their pace nicely, with a tendency towards the original source of death metal when it takes a (relatively) slower pace.

Think Trap Them, Berenice, even Nails at its most aggressive. There are venomous deeper tones buried alongside the hardcore primacy, moments where they use restraint as a contrast effectively. They end with a cover of Wolverine Blues, which for all its fun, feels a bit on the nose.

A slightly odd way to end, but not a dampener as what precedes it’s a raging bull of death metal infused hardcore fury that is thoroughly addictive.
