/incoming/capacapa2.jpgCapacopter have a nice take on modern stoner rock, hints of blues and chilled in a Slomosa manner, some Greenleaf pointers through its warmth and on third track Caravan a delicate beauty you’d associate with the masters of Colour Haze.

The stoner rock scene has reinvigorated itself after serious signs of its demise twenty years ago. It was resuscitated by Truckfighters' Gravity X, the shot in the arm to keep it on life support until a new wave of bands would come along and breath new life into it through a modernity and fresh sounds. As with the comparisons made above (and add in the likes of Elephant Tree and Asteroid), this has been a largely European led evolution.

Capacopter slide nicely into that narrative. They bring subtle changes in too so that interest is maintained across its eight tracks, be it the Psychlona stoner and 70s retro cool of Kings and Cowards, or the latter-day Clutch swagger of the slow burning toe-tapping closer Wandering Stones. Not every track hits home, noticeably when they apply fewer levels of fuzz the tracks suffer from a slight blandness.

Overall though this is an enjoyable ride, a reminder of how stoner rock on our continent is on the rise once more.
