Fancy Writing Reviews?

    • James DJames D
    • Hello everyone,

This is a quick post to see if anyone wants to write reviews and/or do interviews for our e-zine Die Shellsuit, Die! (www.dieshellsuit.co.uk) ?

The reason being is that we're inundated with new CDs at the moment to get reviewed, and although our team is great and constantly doing all that we can, we quite simply can't keep up with the release dates. We cover all sorts, from punk, indie, metal, hardcore, pop-punk, emo, post-rock, dance, avante-garde, folk, blues, jazz, pop, death-metal, rock, hip-hop to everything inbetween (mainly your guitar based staples though). Music is our forte, but we've also been slowly diversifying to cover games, movies and books too. We get sent these infrequently, but we're gathering pace on those. So what we're looking for is someone reliable, a good writer (You don't need qualifications or previous experience, just a passion for music be it good or bad!) and someone who really wants to do this!

We've had many people write 2 reviews, and forget the other 4 they have to do and we never hear from them again, this is ultimately very frustrating for both us and the people sending us the CDs, so we don't want that from anyone wanting to give this a go. We'll send you as many CDs as you can cope with, if you only like having 4 at a time we'll stick with that, but if you can master the art of sorting 15 CDs at once, then that's brilliant too. We just need some more help basically and are therefore looking to expand our current team.

There are no set deadlines, so you need to be self-disciplined and have some spare freetime to get your teeth into doing the reviews. We don't pay anyone for this, the reward is hopefully getting CDs you actually like, for free! We try to match people up correctly with bands we hope you'll enjoy, as reviewing band after band that you hate is clearly pointless for everyone involved.

What do we need if you're up for it?

      What age are you?
Whereabouts do you live in the country? (Ideally we need people in the UK - But if you're not you would get streamed links for CDs, so please be aware of that, we aren't sending physical CDs abroad at the moment as it costs too much for us)
What are your top 10 favourite bands of all time?
      What are your preferred genres?
Are you up for interviewing bands? (If so let us know if it's on e-mail/phone/face to face or all of these)
Will you be reviewing live shows? (If so guestlist will be sorted out as is appropriate)
Would you want to reviews computer games? (If so what consoles do you have)
Would you want to review books? (If so who what are your preferred type of book)
Would you want to review DVDs/go to screenings? (If so who what are your preferred type of films)
Can you try to send a sample review you've had published if you have one, alternatively write a review of a current CD you really enjoy and can get passionate about. There's no set word count, but obviously writing a paragraph about an entire album is a bit limited.
