    • Jethro Tull at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival on Sky Arts...fucking incredible!!!

    • Started watching the first season the other night, pretty enjoyable drama fluff. Still hasn't changed my opinion on the biker club culture with some insight into it... fucking stupid.

    • I was a bit disappointed with the first episode of the new run of Black Mirror.

Watched the excellent 1974 Vietnam documentary Hearts and Minds the other day- an excellent piece of filmmaking and very brave for its time (i.e. dealing with an exceptionally sensitive subject of the era, not given the comfortable buffer of 30/40 years of reflection which so many modern docs have). Highly recommended.

I've watched a few fillums recently

Les Miserables (great, but too much singing)

The Fighter (Fantastic, both Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale are amazing in it)

Finally watched Natural Born Killers, very trippy and so 90s it hurts but excellent all the same.

Rewatched Fear and Loathing, still makes me feel weird watching it.

My Mad Fat Diary - This has got to be the best thing on telly at the moment, sums up 1996 perfectly. Set in Lincolnshire too!

We were watching My Mad Fat Diary last night and my missus announced she was friends with someone who knows the real person behind it and went to school with her.

Me too. The plot was ripped off of Caprica, and it was altogether too slow and obvious for me.

I wasn't massively impressed with the first series either, much prefer the various wipes he's done.

    • I saw Skyfall for the first time this weekend. It was good but I was hoping for it to be much more.

About to watch Willow, for the first time in 20 years or so.

It was probably the best Bond in years but it was still a bit silly in places.

Currently watching Firefly (Jaynestown) and maybe The Guard tonight on Lovefilm Instant.

Did you not rate Casino Royale? I loved it, it's probably my favourite ever.

    • i also watched skyfall at the weekend. thought it was a good romp. daniel craig is growing on me as bond - he's said he plays it as close to the book as possible.
    • GarethGareth
    • I did like Casino Royale but I didn't like seeing Eva Green go.

The more I think about Skyfall, the more it's annoying me actually. Silva's plan relies on the entire sequence of events that happen in the film and some of them are just ridiculously lucky or rely on people being exceptionally stupid.

What if Q wasn't an absolute dunce and didn't plug the cyberterrorists laptop directly into the MI6 network? Much shorter film. This is one of many examples.

    • Yeah, and as my brother pointed out to me, Bond's master plan to hide M up in Scotland actually caused her death. Yet it's not recognised.
    • GarethGareth
    • And when Q and the other guy are placing the trail that Silva follows, supposedly on the sly, but on the massive screen which requires you have your back to the door to do it.

Still, the new M is called Gareth so points there.

    • Not listening, LA LA LA LA LA LA LA...
    • GarethGareth
    • I would edit mine to remove the slight spoiler but Pete pretty much spelled it out anyway.

Sorry Alan! It's still worth a watch despite the massive plot holes.

    • It's ok, someone at work pretty much gave away everything from the last couple of films anyway. I don't think you watch Bond films for plot anyway, they're just entertaining.
    • PetePete
    • Sorry Alan.

    • Sorry Alan, nobody should have to read that much about James Bond.
